Ranky Tanky

With influences of jazz, blues, gospel, and folk music, this Charleston, South Carolina-based quintet’s repertoire is built on re-imagined arrangements of playful game songs, ecstatic shouts, heartbreaking spirituals, and delicate lullabies from the centuries-old Gullah tradition of America’s southeastern Sea Islands, where geographical isolation has helped sustain treasured West African traditions and ways of life for generations.

The Ebony Hillbillies

As one of the last black string bands in the U.S.—currently based in the concrete hills of NYC—the Hillbillies keep an important legacy alive with a rootsy, homegrown style that many forget was a key element in the genesis of all the music we cherish as uniquely American—jazz, blues, bluegrass, rockabilly, rock and roll and country.

Bumper Jacksons

“You may come for the jazz: clarinet and horns and swingy rhythms, plus Billie Holliday and Duke Ellington classics. But you’ll stay for all the other ingredients in their mélange: fiddles and guitars, bouncy banjo-ukes, weepy country pedal steel, rock-and-roll electric guitar, jug-band kazoo and assorted percussion” —Huffington Post.

Bombay Rickey

With their deliciously quirky blend of cowboy music, exotic dance rhythms, coloratura soprano, surf guitar, Indian, Latin, funk, and rock, Bombay Rickey might be the soundtrack to a Bollywood noir film from the 1960s, or perhaps to a spaghetti western that never existed.
