From the curator: It is with great pleasure to present some of the more recent work by Annie Hayes, who has lived and worked and raised her daughter not far from the West Kortright Centre for the past 30 plus years. While for an extended time from art school and beyond, her work was focused on printmaking and figurative imagery, in recent years she has made a major stride bringing her fearless, visceral emotionality into painting and abstraction, with dramatically positive results. The exhibit will present several of these more recent paintings on corrugate, as well as some her quite recent pencil drawings, that have likewise evolved in similarly extremely positive ways.
