POSTPONED — THRESHOLD
Stay tuned for information about rescheduling in 2021!
A production by Lanny Harrison, Robin Daniels, & Christine Alicino~
The seed of our production started in a discussion about aging as women in the creative field. How do we grow and live thoughtful lives in a chaotic & challenging world? As we developed THRESHOLD, we continually returned to ancient women's themes and iconography. The possibilities of transformation, the truth of impermanence, and the wonder of life echo throughout our production. The characters, music, and projections are revealed through animal spirits, nature, and the ordinary magic of everyday life. Lanny's Characters, ranging from mundane to fantastical, present-day to historical are conveyed through poetry, movement, and costume. Christine weaves cinematic dreamlike projections throughout the staged and sound narratives, adding another layer of movement and mystery. Robin uses ancient and acoustic instruments, as well as her voice, to create the soundscape. The hammered dulcimer spans many cultures; the gyile is precursor to the African marimba and goes back centuries. Both instruments, known for their ‘over tones’, are believed to be the ancestors speaking through them.
