Shakespeare in the Valley: Twelfth Night
Friday, July 30 & Saturday, July 31: Celebrate the talents of youth & William Shakespeare at the 34th Annual WKC Shakespeare in the Valley! Live, in-person performances on both Friday 7/30 & Saturday 7/31! Each evening begins at 6 PM with an original play, Eleventh Night, or What You Were, by the Introduction to Acting workshop, led by Vanessa Van Burek and Mary Claire Davis. There will be no WKC BBQ this year. We will have a concession stand with some drinks and snacks and we welcome attendees to BYOP (Bring Your Own Picnic). At 8p, the lights go up on a fully staged production of Twelfth Night by the Shakespeare, Sound Tech, Music for Shakespeare, & Costume Design sections of the West Kortright Centre’s Young People’s Theater Arts Workshops. This year, our Shakespeare Workshops are led by Lillian Meredith, Stephen Bennett, & Jess Mederos. Bring your own lawn seating. Rain or Shine. (In case of heavy rain or thunderstorms, the torrential rain date is Sunday.) Advance Tickets: $12 (adults); $5 (children 2-11); free for under 2 year olds. (No added ticketing fees for WKC members or children!) We recommend that you purchase your tickets ahead of time on Eventbrite, to prevent long lines at the box office. (Tickets do not need to be printed.) Day-of Tickets: $12 WKC members; $15 non-members; $5 children All tickets are General Admission; we encourage 3′ of social distancing and being mindful of others’ personal space. See below for more COVID-safety information and code of conduct. Delaware County’s vaccination rate is less than 50% but our local Public Health Department has agreed to lift most restrictions and guidelines. For everyone’s continued safety and comfort, please note the following while on The WKC grounds: – If you or your child feel even slightly unwell, please skip this event! – Masks are to be worn by anyone who is not yet fully vaccinated (except when seated in your pod). – We are no longer required to ask health screen questions upon arrival, conduct temperature checks, or to collect every single person’s information for contact tracing. We will still be collecting contact information for just one person per group (just their full name, and email or phone number). – For social distancing— please be mindful of each other’s space and respect that people have different levels of comfort in group settings. You are responsible for wrangling your child(ren) so that they are not touching other children (Please don’t put the burden of this on others or WKC staff!) We thank you again, so very much, for all of your support, understanding, & gracious patience as our team works to make this event safe & fun for everyone!
