RM Fischer & Dena Paige Fischer: Interwoven

May 16-June 17

Reception: May 24th - 5-7PM

Following in the now annual tradition of showing artists whose work has been, in largely unspoken ways, influenced, directly or indirectly, by a relationship: partners (married and otherwise), parent/child, or close friends…this year’s selection will be a father and daughter.

RM Fischer, a much heralded, New York-based sculptor, whose work dances among multiple boundaries, and has long split the year between downstate and the Catskills. His well-recognized career, includes countless prominent national and international gallery and museum exhibitions, considerable work held in important permanent public and private collections,  plus numerous large scale public art installations throughout the country.  Although largely best know for his “lamps,” his work has taken many forms, and this show will feature a selection of his fabric and mixed media pieces from the early 2000’s.

Dena Paige Fischer, born in 1987, grew up in a Soho loft with her artist parents and received her formal art school training, and BFA, from the Maryland Institute of Art in 2009. Dena, also primarily a sculptor, works in a variety of materials, and has particular interest in themes related to ritual, healing and primal relationship to nature. She has taught, been a studio assistant to notable artists, exhibited her work in the U.S. and abroad, and has been featured in a number of performance pieces, music videos, and fashion editorials.
