Here Lived

Directed by Jane Wells (USA) 01:19:00 Features

Stone by stone: a story of hidden children, murdered parents, generational trauma, and one artist’s singular vision for healing. Gunter Demnig’s Stolpersteine project provides a path from one of the most egregious wrongs of history, the Nazi reign of terror, to individual and community reconciliation. Here lived are the opening words in 20 languages hammered by hand into each of over 100,000 brass remembrance stones in 30 countries across Europe. This film captures the power and emotion of “social sculpture” in its attempt to heal the lasting impact of the Holocaust, nearly 80 years later.
